BSN Admission Requirements

First Years 

First-year students are admitted directly to the McAuley School of Nursing. Applicants to the BSN program must meet the University's general entrance requirements.

In addition, they should have completed at least the following preparatory high school courses:

  • four units of English,
  • two units of laboratory science (chemistry and biology),
  • two units of mathematics,
  • two units of history or social science. Applicants must have an overall cumulative GPA of 2.5, and a minimum score of 21 on the ACT or 1000 on the SAT is required.

Transfer applicants must have:

  • a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 based upon 24 semester hours of college work
  • and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in all science courses.
  • A minimum composite percentage score of 65 on the Nursing Entrance Test (NET) is required.
Transfer applicants must complete the following courses before beginning the nursing coursework:
  • English composition,
  • intermediate algebra,
  • anatomy and physiology,
  • inorganic/organic chemistry,
  • organic/biochemistry
  • microbiology
  • psychology and
  • sociology.

These courses can be transferred in, or completed at the University of Detroit Mercy. Students may transfer up to 63 credits.

Transfer students: Please consult the Nursing Equivalency Guide for information about which components of your previous coursework will transfer to UDM.
