BSN Grand Rapids - Curriculum
The Bachelor of Science Nursing curriculum is built upon a foundation of liberal arts and theoretical sciences. It has evolved to reflect changing trends in health care and includes courses and experience in case management, community health and research. There is an emphasis on leadership development and service learning.
The UDM Nursing program places strong emphasis on clinical experience. Students work side-by-side with the professional nursing staff at Saint Mary’s Health Care. The program also has a required cooperative education component. Students are placed in paid cooperative positions in a variety of healthcare settings during the summers following their sophomore and junior years. Students earn income and college credits, graduating with a larger number of clinical hours and real-world experience than those in other programs.
