Demand for Registered Nurses

The demand for registered nurses is expected to grow by 23% by 2008--than the average for all other occupations.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, nearly 1.4 million registered nurses will be needed by 2010, yet current projections indicate that only 656,000 registered nurses will be available.

A further complication is that the available positions will require registered nurses who are educated and experienced to handle the increasingly complex requirements of the current and emerging health care environment.

To meet this need and increase the number of baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses, UDM has implemented innovative new programs and alternative delivery options, in addition we have set up partnerships with several health care systems throughout the metro Detroit area.
