Detroit Mercy’s goal is to graduate the next generation of healthcare professionals who will lead the charge to transform health systems.

Students in the College of Health Professions and the McAuley School of Nursing will soon benefit from the Simulation, Technology and Research (STAR) Center — complete with emerging technology and state-of-the-art collaboration spaces.

The STAR Center implements the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Standards of Best Practice.

The STAR Center will include new simulation rooms to provide unique, hands-on experiences for students. These rooms include:

  • High-fidelity and multi-function rooms
  • High-tech trauma/operating room
  • Telehealth room

The STAR Center will also include a staffing wing, conference rooms and collaborative spaces.

Students will use virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) technology and equipment to refine their skills. These state-of-the-art resources will prepare them to thrive in their clinicals and future careers. In addition, the new facilities will offer students hands-on learning opportunities to address healthcare needs and practice crisis management in a controlled, authentic setting.

sim lab

I felt confident in my clinicals because I was able to perfect my skills in the open labs. The labs aren’t crowded, so I was able to practice until I felt comfortable.
