NEW THIS YEAR — AI Innovation Demo Day
This year’s symposium introduces AI Innovation Demo Day, presented by the Center for Augmenting Intelligence in partnership with the CHP Research Symposium Committee.
This dedicated one-hour showcase invites students, faculty and community members to share live demonstrations, lightning talks and poster presentations highlighting innovation in artificial intelligence, health technology and clinical simulation.
Have a working prototype, pilot project or compelling concept?
Demo Day is your opportunity to showcase innovation in action.
Abstracts for AI Innovation Demo Day are submitted through the same symposium submission process and will be considered for inclusion in this special session.

Abstract Requirements
Submission Deadline: August 29, 2026!
The University of Detroit Mercy, College of Health Professions and McAuley School of Nursing welcomes health care leaders, researchers, educators, clinicians, and students to submit an abstract for podium or poster presentation to our inaugural Research Symposium. This event will be held Sept. 26, 2026, in the Student Union Ballroom on the University of Detroit Mercy’s McNichols campus during Detroit Mercy’s Homecoming weekend.
We welcome abstracts for podium or poster presentations on the following healthcare-related themes:
- Safety and Quality
- Healthcare innovations and Leadership
- Social Responsibility
- Health and Wellness and Community Engagement
Abstract Requirements
- Submit an Abstract
- Abstracts should be no more than 300 words
- Notification of Acceptance will be sent by Sept. 4
Exceptional posters will be recognized at the end of the event. Awards will be given for Best Student Poster, Clinical Innovation, Community Engagement and Wellness.
Instructions for accepted poster and podium abstracts:
Please be sure to register for the CHP and MSON’s Symposium using the link above.
The event will be held at the McNichols campus in Detroit in the Student Union Ballroom. The address is 4001 West McNichols Rd Detroit, Michigan 48221.
Poster guidelines:
- Arrival and Setup: Please arrive between 9:30-10 a.m. to be met by symposium committee staff for instructions on setting up your poster.
- Display Time: Your poster will be on display during the entire conference.
- Poster Presentation Times: Presenters must be at their posters during the following times:
- 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. (primary poster session)
- 3 – 3:30 p.m. (secondary viewing session)
- Poster Format & Setup: Posters must be mounted on flat or tri-fold poster boards. Easels will be provided. Clips will be available for roll-up posters mounted on boards.
- Poster Dimensions: Printed posters for accepted abstracts should not exceed 48” x 36” (4 ft x 3 ft).
- Tear Down: Posters must be removed by 4 p.m.
- Submission of Poster File: If accepted, please email a copy of your poster presentation in PowerPoint format using the link provided or send directly to chpresearchsymposium@udmercy.edu.
Podium guidelines:
Please arrive between 10 - 10:30 a.m. to be met by the symposium committee staff regarding instructions in setting up your presentation. A computer and audio system will be available in the room and symposium staff will be available to assist you.
- You will be allotted fifteen minutes for your presentation with additional five minutes of Q & A.
- Bring a copy (i.e., USB flash drive) of your PowerPoint presentation to the event.
- Finally, please email a copy of your podium presentation in PowerPoint form using the link provided as chpresearchsymposium@udmercy.edu by end of business day, Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
