CHP Fall Term

The College of Health Professions made some very thoughtful decisions on how best to proceed with fall courses which would continue to provide students with outstanding quality education. The following describes some of the activities:

Classes

  • Many courses will be held using a hyflex format to provide students with the opportunity for face-to-face instruction combined with asynchronous/synchronous learning. The method also provides a mechanism for those students who are unable to attend classes on campus to complete their learning.
  • Any person who has contact with someone who is Covid-19 positive must adhere to the guidelines as described in Titans Together; the course delivery decision enables students to complete all their studies even in the event of close contact with a Covid-19 positive individual. This would include any work-related or clinical-related contact.
  • Detroit Mercy will remain open and students will receive the same access to services, including the library, computer labs, tutoring, counseling, University ministry services and fitness center. The CHP/MSON will remain open.We anticipate the full-spectrum of services to be available.

Clinicals

  • Our clinical partners have indicated that clinical rotations will resume in most instances. We continue to work closely with our clinical partners as the environment is dynamic. In order to participate in clinical rotations, students must demonstrate compliance with all requirements related to health, immunization, HIPPA, and criminal background checks.

Simulation Activities

  • The CHP and MSON will continue to provide state of the art virtual simulation activities to augment instruction implemented in spring 2020. Feedback from students and faculty have demonstrated the positive impact of these activities. Virtual simulation across all MSON/CHP clinical programs will continue.

Fees

  • Several programs have fees associated with some of the courses. These fees support equipment, training, clinical activities (both on-site and virtual formats), and testing. The fees have not changed as we are continuing to provide these essential aspects for clinical education and testing.
